Characteristics:
Willow has traditionally been used in the manufacture of cricket bats due to its light but flexible and resilient properties.
Uses: Cricket bats.
Advantages:
- lightweight but flexible
- has a characteristic straight grain
- it turns, moulds, bores, routs, carves and sands well
Disadvantages:
- not very durable
- little resistance to either decay or insect attack.
